Last week saw an eclectic collection of fabulous frocks, smart suits and a room full of inspiration! Guests ranged from Entrepreneurs, Managing Directors, Operation Managers, Sales & Marketing Execs to Bar Supervisors and Head Sommeliers – all with a passion for hospitality.
We know from some of the people we sat with on table number 12, we would’ve been more comfortable back of house running the show, than sat down in the Great Room at the Grosvenor House, and we were all itching to see the kitchens and the brigade in action. However, it was our turn to be fed, watered and entertained and what a great night it turned out to be.
The Cateys is a great excuse for hospitality professionals to get together and celebrate what’s great about the industry we work with. What was clear from the outset is the fact that people play a huge part in the industry and are at the heart of many of the businesses which won. Without great people, with their dedication, enthusiasm and hard work hospitality businesses would not be the thriving popular places they are and it’s great that this was recognised widely on the evening.
Money raised throughout the night was collected on behalf of Hospitality Action and Springboard. Two great charities that throughout the UK support industry workers through hard times or help them up the career ladder.
Hospitality Action provides a number of beneficial services covering 24 hour support for workers in crisis or have no one else to turn to, providing grants to further education, help with medical bills, residential care fees or legal costs. In addition it provides alcohol and drug awareness courses and for retirees offers a ‘Contact’ membership scheme for anyone who has worked in the industry for 7 or more years.
Springboard works with young people to help them achieve their potential, assists the unemployed back into work whatever their age and aims to assist in poverty alleviation by seeking opportunities for disadvantaged and underprivileged people to work within hospitality, leisure and tourism.
We were there to support the Sustainable Business Award as Rebecca was on the panel of judges. The award went to Ode True Food– A quirky dining concept in Devon whose accolades are growing as fast as their popularity. Their vision simply to provide quality, ethically sourced food served in a family friendly environment.
The team at rhp wholeheartedly support all three outstanding organisations within the hospitality industry and share many of their key values. These values are what we focus our training on and we strongly feel that your sustainable journey needs to involve the whole team as it’s your people who will make all the difference at the end of the day.
Over the next few months you will see us launch a new training campaign where we will be running online webinars, inviting you to join training seminars in various locations across England and providing bespoke packages to individual companies to offer in-house training.
